Unending loss and emotional highs and lows wears you down a lot faster. That’s just factual.

I wonder if there's a specific reason for why so many have similar lengths in time with the few odd ones out.

If you want to get really paranoid, it could be one person planning and tweaking these things over time and then outsourcing them as and when they're needed or "required" according to some parameters that only make sense to them.
